Urban Homesteading

Urban homesteading is a growing movement turning urban and suburban property into productive landscapes capable of providing an abundance that one usually associates with rural agriculture.

Most city properties drain us of time, money, natural resources and are essentially barren deserts for native pollinators.

With a few changes your property can be a step in the right direction to having a positive impact on our environment by sequestering carbon and reducing household waste with composting systems. It could be a sanctuary that support pollinators & wildlife while building soil health and fertility. Smart systems that capture and use the rain water effectively, keeping our basements dry, while directing it to better use, like growing an abundance of perennial & annual food, teas, medicines, etc.

First Option:

You simply pay for a service in which I can design your homestead and get you up and running

Pricing:

Initial consultation - Consists of a phone call and is FREE

Site Assessment & Client Goals - This is roughly a 2-3 hour walk through of your property. Your site will be fully assessed and clients goals will be integrated into this assessment. Ideas about moving forward will discussed to create a rough plan of action: $150

This could be the end of our interaction and you take on the initiative to learn more and implement what we discussed in the site assessment to your property on your own.

Otherwise, next steps are creating a complete design.

Full Permaculture Design - This is a complete design outlining in detail all the various water, compost, production, etc. systems and how they integrate together. The design is usually broken down into implementation stages to allow for proper succession of biological processes to occur and also to accommodate your budget (usually implemented over 1-3 years).

Complete base map design are price dependent on level of complexity, a quote will be given after the site assessment and clients goal meeting

Ongoing Consultation/Labour: $50/hour

Second Option.

You like the idea, but don’t have the money or time to implement and run a space like this.

In this case we can create an agreement in which I will develop your property for you to expand my urban nursery and create various products for market. In return, you will have a beautiful eco-responsible property and will receive a percentage of what is produced on your property.
